Journal Aim & Scope
The Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture publishes peer-reviewed original research, reviews, mini-reviews, perspectives and spotlights in these areas, with particular emphasis on interdisciplinary studies at the agriculture/ food interface.

Published for SCI by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

SCI (Society of Chemical Industry) is a unique international forum where science meets business on independent, impartial ground. Anyone can join and current Members include consumers, business people, environmentalists, industrialists, farmers, and researchers. The Society offers a chance to share information between sectors as diverse as food and agriculture, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, materials, chemicals, environmental science and safety. As well as organising educational events, SCI awards a number of prestigious honours and scholarships each year, publishes peer-reviewed journals, and provides Members with news from their sectors in the respected magazine, Chemistry & Industry .

Originally established in London in 1881 and in New York in 1894, SCI is a registered charity with Members in over 70 countries.

    I emailed to inquire about the status, and the response was "the manuscript is with the editor for selecting reviewers". I'm so frustrated, it's been two months and it still hasn't been sent for review.

    I have been submitting manuscripts for 5 months now, and what is most frustrating is that my article was originally classified as in the second division by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, but it has been moved to the third division.

    10.10 submitted for review, under review on the same day, then received an email saying there was a mistake in the order of a table, so I made the correction and re-uploaded it.
    On 1.18, the supervisor asked for a reminder.
    On 1.21, it showed major revisions were needed. There was only one reviewer, and the questions raised were quite professional, which greatly improved the article.
    On 2.18, the revisions were made as requested, and it was mentioned that the journal's impact factor for February had not been released yet.
    On 3.25, it was accepted for publication.
    I was quite happy to receive the acceptance email, as the wait had been quite long and I couldn't see the progress within the system. The journal is also a good one, and after checking the ranking, it has moved from a second tier to a third tier in the Chinese Academy of Sciences ranking. It's frustrating to see the pyramid ranking system, but from now on, I can list it as a Q1 ranking on my resume.

    I can choose not to charge. I submitted it in the second half of last year. It has now been officially published. The review process took about thirty days, and another ten days after revisions. I don't know if it's because I don't understand the submission website or what, but for this journal, it goes through the stages of submission, review, revision, final acceptance, online publication, and official publication. I had no idea where it was in the process during the entire submission period. Each time, I would suddenly check my email and find out it had moved to the next stage.
